Potential Risks of a Vegan Diet (One is Irreversible) Clean Eating K…

372.939.9397 hours agoWhat is the most common disease vegans have? (2020) - Quora

1. Vitamin A Deficiency. While you’ll only find pre-formed vitamin A in animal products, there are certain compounds — you’ve likely already heard of one, beta-carotene — the body can convert into the vitamin.
2. Lack of Vitamin B12. If you’re not getting enough B12, you could develop anemia or damage to your brain and nervous system. For vegans, getting enough becomes a little tricky since their only reliable sources are fortified foods and supplements.
3. Low Calcium Intake. Many vegans typically only get about 400-600 mg of calcium each day compared to the U.S. recommendations of 1,000 mg each day. While recommendations to increase your milk consumption for your calcium is very outdated, you still need to incorporate as many foods as you can to get enough calcium.
4. Vitamin D3 Insufficiency. Research suggests Vitamin D, which is necessary for calcium absorption, is also just as important in preventing osteoporosis.
5. Iodine Depletion. Iodine is needed for a healthy thyroid, and getting too little can cause problems with the body’s metabolic functions. Because your body can’t produce iodine, getting trace amounts in food and supplements are your only options.

10 Vegan Diet Dangers (#4 can get you in BIG trouble

Just Now

1. Historically, there are no wide-spread cultures that have thrived by subsisting off of animal-free diets. Gleaning dietary wisdom from those who have come before you is one of the best ways to learn about health.
2. People often turn to vegan diets because they have trouble digesting meat and dairy products and have other issues like fatigue, inflammation, acne, bloating, and weight gain.
3. The best diets are those with the greatest variety of nutrients and without dietary limitations. Blacklisting certain food groups interferes with your body's communication system.
4. Vegan diets tend to be low in high-quality protein (and low protein diets can increase toxicity). Did you know that there is a big difference in the protein quality of animals vs. plants?
5. Plant foods don't contain real Vitamin A, only the precursors that require conversion. Real vitamin A, called retinol is only found in animal foods.
6. Plant-based diets can decrease digestive juices. Animal protein stimulates the production of HCL (hydrochloric acid) in your stomach to break down proteins.
7. Dietary dogma that if it's not working for you, you're doing it "wrong." Immersion in any dietary paradigm can be very powerful, and the vegan community is no exception.
8. Because of the body's ability to adapt to any type of fuel for survival, it often takes time to see the negative impact. Due to the body's incredible ability to adapt, the decline of health due to a vegan diet is often slow and gradual.
9. Vegan dieters often favor soy products. Since protein is scarce when you avoid animal products, soy products like edamame, tofu, soy protein powder, and tempeh are often dietary staples.
10. Vegan diets can be heavy in nut consumption. In an effort to increase dietary protein and calories, nuts are often adopted to form a more significant part of the diet.

10 Common Health Issues: The Fruits The Flaming …

Just Now

1. Diabetes: The primary thing you have to monitor as a diabetic is your sugar level. Choose fruits and vegetables that have low glycemic index or those kinds of food that have little effect on your blood sugar.
2. Heart ailment: Keep your heart healthy by consuming vegetables rich in magnesium. Dark, leafy vegetables like spinach, mustard, kale, and broccoli must be included in your meals.
3. Kidney problems: Aside from massive intake of water, you should also make sure that you are on a low-sodium and low-potassium diet. You can do this by incorporating bell pepper, cabbage, or cauliflower in the food that you eat.
4. Liver problems: Your liver filters toxins out of your body; that’s why you need to keep taking in fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants.
5. Poor eyesight: To prevent your eyesight from developing macular degeneration or cataract, you have to have enough lutein and vitamin A intake. Leafy vegetables such as kale, chard, broccoli, collards, and spinach are rich in lutein, while vitamin A is abundant in fruits like banana, mango, and papaya.
6. Arthritis: Arthritis is basically the inflammation of joints, so regular intake of food that counters swelling is necessary to ease the pain. Anti-inflammatory fruits are pomegranate, Indian gooseberry, pineapple, and papaya.
7. Acid reflux: Because of the high acidity level in the stomach, it is best to skip citrus fruits when planning your diet. Non-acidic fruits include banana, melon, coconut, and mango.
8. Pulmonary disease: Quitting smoking isn’t the only way to protect your lungs from damage. To prevent certain diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or COPD from occurring, flavonoids should be a regular in your diet.
9. High blood pressure: Hypertension can be regulated by eating food that are high in magnesium, potassium, and calcium. They help relax the arteries for regular blood flow.
10. Anemia: To increase the hemoglobin level in the blood, you have to increase your intake of iron and vitamin B12. Bananas, apples, pears, dark grapes, apricots, plums, strawberries provide just the right amount of iron and vitamin B12 you need.

The 10 Worst Problems with Vegan Diets [Explained] Synchro

1. Omega 3's. Maintaining a balance between your Omega 3 and Omega 6 levels is critical to keeping systemic inflammation in check. If your Omega 6 intake exceeds your Omega 3 intake, systemic inflammation will increase (so too will the negative secondary effects of systemic inflammation).
2. Too Much Fruit. How many vegans do you know that don't eat copious amount of fruit? Traditional thinking is that fruit is generally healthy, but recent evidence suggests otherwise.
3. Creatine. Creatine is an essential component of energy metabolism found in fish and meat, but nowhere in plant foods. How essential is creatine? A 2003 study showed that when vegetarians and vegans supplemented with creatine, their IQ scores went up and an average of 20%.
4. Ethical Arguments Against Vegan Diets. Veganism is supposed to be better for the environment and save animal lives, right? Compared to a normal American diet, veganism absolutely is a world better.
5. Vitamin A/Beta-Carotene. Much like the Omega 3 problem, while you can get vitamin A from plant foods, it comes in a form that is difficult for the body to use.
6. Fat-Soluble Vitamins. Vitamin A is not the only nutrient that plants do a poor job at providing. Other fat-soluble vitamins (D and E) are difficult to get in adequate levels from plant foods.
7. Junk Food Veganism. How many times have you been checking out at Whole Foods and the person in front of you has a shopping cart that looks like this?
8. Short-Chain Fats. There are a few highly valuable short chain fats (butyrate being the most notable one) that are simply not found in plant foods. Butyrate is a valuable fuel for the brain and has been shown to have neuro-protective effects.
9. Natural Plant Toxins. 90% of the time, eating tons of vegetables is a completely beneficial thing to do. There are a handful plant foods out there that contain low levels of natural toxins that can be harmful if consumed in large quantities.
10. Soy. Vegan diets tend to be loaded with soy products. Soy farming is an ecological disaster in some parts of the world. Huge swaths of South American rainforest have been cleared in recent years to plant soy crops.

Vegan Health Benefits: 9 Vegan Health Myths & The

1. Myth: The Vegan Diet Isn’t Healthy. Ergh, where do you begin to answer such a maddening statement. Let’s start with The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition: “Vegan diets are usually higher in dietary fiber, magnesium, folic acid, vitamins C and E, iron, and phytochemicals...
2. Myth: The Vegan Diet Doesn't Get Enough Protein. The classic omnivore “aha-I-got-you” moment. The protein argument. Until you spin around and smugly let slip that “actually, on average vegans get 70% more protein than they need, everyday”.
3. Myth: You Need Cows Milk to Get Calcium. The first thing to point out with this myth is that cows get their calcium from plants. Calcium is a mineral, found in the soil and absorbed by plants, which is then consumed by cows.
4. Myth: You Need to Eat Fish to Get Omega-3. Much like the calcium question, our fishy friends get their Omega-3 from plants, specifically algae. There are a range of vegan friendly foods that are high in Omega-3, which include chia seeds, hemp seeds and walnuts.
5. Myth: Vegans Don’t Get Enough Iron. Let’s iron out the facts here. While it’s true that iron absorption from meat tends to be higher than from plant foods, the risk of iron deficiency anemia are similar for vegans compared with omnivores.
6. Myth: Athletes Can’t Be Vegan. Oh really, tell that to vegan UFC fighter Nate Diaz when he kicked Conor McGregor's ass. Or say Carl Lewis, one of the greatest sprinters of all time who said “a person does not need protein from meat to be a successful athlete”.
7. Myth: You’ll Always Be Hungry. People on a vegan diet consume more fibre than any other group and it’s fibre that keeps us fuller for longer. It’s only been more recently though that scientists have discovered exactly why fibre keeps us full and that’s an anti-appetite molecule called “acetate”.
8. Myth: Being Vegan Makes You Tired. When former president Bill Clinton was asked about his new vegan diet, he said “All my blood tests are good, and my vital signs are good, and I feel good, and I also have, believe it or not, more energy".
9. Myth: Children Shouldn’t Eat a Vegan Diet. For this one you might want to keep another piece of paper with the following statement tucked away: “It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.
