1. Host a Stress Reduction Workshop. Stress hormones trigger the body’s “fight or flight response,” which when left untreated can cause chronic physical and emotional issues.
2. Create an Interactive Bulletin Board. Bulletin boards in the workplace don’t need to be boring. Get creative with your hallway bulletins by turning them into an engaging Mental Health Awareness Month activity.
3. Get Physical. Host a karate instructor to come on site for the day. Throughout the day, have the instructor offer mini lessons for individuals and/or group classes.
4. Have a Well-Being Day. Host a day dedicated to well-being activities and exploration. You can keep it as simple as a mini wellness benefits review with a light breakfast and equally light workday.
5. Create a Different Kind of Escape Room. Break rooms are a must for escaping work. Aside from your typical kitchen break room setup, consider making a different kind of escape room for employees.
6. Host a Tea/Coffee Event. Bring a mental health advocate in for a morning tea or coffee event. Host a healthy breakfast and invite your staff to come in and listen to a local psychologist or mental health professional.
7. Have an Outdoor Event Day. Research proves that outdoor green spaces are good for mental health. Those who spend time outdoors will find they have reduced stress, anxiety, and depression.
8. Discuss Mental Health. Mental health discussions aren’t only reserved for therapy offices. When leadership asks questions beyond, “Hi, how are you?” it starts a different dialogue.
9. Share Screening Tools. Employees can’t get the appropriate professional help if they don’t know they have a problem. Consider sharing mental health screening tools via email, bulletin boards, and team meetings to actively promote mental health awareness.
10. Schedule an On-Site Yoga Day. Yoga not only stretches the body, but it can also stretch the mind. Consider bringing in a local yoga teacher for a class on deep breathing and yoga.

1. Wake Up Gradually with Deep Breathing. Instead of hopping out of bed abruptly or reaching for your phone, try allowing yourself time to wake up gradually.
2. Have a Self-Care Morning Routine. I have found profound peace implementing a really strong self-care morning routine to jumpstart my day. Up by 6 am. Coffee on the patio listening to the peaceful chirping of the birds while reading and writing three things I’m grateful for in my journal.
3. Get Out and Spend Time In Nature. Spending time in nature is super beneficial for your mental health! Take a nap outdoors, read a book on your patio or under a tree, go backyard camping, do some yard work, play hide the ball with the kids, start a “stay at home” vegetable garden.
4. Appreciate The Simple Things. Returning to the absolute basics and re-learning how to appreciate the simplest things is a great way to be able to re-energize and refocus.
5. Start Journaling to Destress. Journaling is a great practice that helps many topics that people are facing right now including the stress of such a drastic life change and being isolated.
6. Accept and Validate Your Emotions. One of the most difficult yet important things you can do for your mental health is to accept the emotions that you’re feeling.
7. Eat High-Quality, Nutrient-Dense Foods. As a nutritional therapy practitioner, my biggest tip is to focus on eating high-quality, nutrient-dense foods and avoiding processed junk food and refined sugar.
8. Cultivate What You See and Hear. Motivation seems to be a trait that is cultivated through daily practice and discipline. If we have a low sense of motivation, I highly encourage people to read books, listen to podcasts, or go to workshops with individuals whose motivational techniques are uplifting.
9. Ground Yourself with Your Senses. Stay in the present moment. Get away from the media as often as you can and focus on where you are at this moment and what’s going on in front of you.
10. Make One Joyful Commitment A Day. As I teen I spent six months undergoing chemotherapy for cancer in LA, hundreds of miles away from my brothers, my dad, and my friends.

Ten Uhs.umich.edu Get All

1. Value yourself: Treat yourself with kindness and respect, and avoid self-criticism. Make time for your hobbies and favorite projects, or broaden your horizons.
2. Take care of your body: Taking care of yourself physically can improve your mental health. Be sure to: Eat nutritious meals. Avoid smoking and vaping-- see Cessation Help.
3. Surround yourself with good people: People with strong family or social connections are generally healthier than those who lack a support network. Make plans with supportive family members and friends, or seek out activities where you can meet new people, such as a club, class or support group.
4. Give yourself: Volunteer your time and energy to help someone else. You'll feel good about doing something tangible to help someone in need — and it's a great way to meet new people.
5. Learn how to deal with stress: Like it or not, stress is a part of life. Practice good coping skills: Try One-Minute Stress Strategies, do Tai Chi, exercise, take a nature walk, play with your pet or try journal writing as a stress reducer.
6. Quiet your mind: Try meditating, Mindfulness and/or prayer. Relaxation exercises and prayer can improve your state of mind and outlook on life. In fact, research shows that meditation may help you feel calm and enhance the effects of therapy.
7. Set realistic goals: Decide what you want to achieve academically, professionally and personally, and write down the steps you need to realize your goals.
8. Break up the monotony: Although our routines make us more efficient and enhance our feelings of security and safety, a little change of pace can perk up a tedious schedule.
9. Avoid alcohol and other drugs: Keep alcohol use to a minimum and avoid other drugs. Sometimes people use alcohol and other drugs to "self-medicate" but in reality, alcohol and other drugs only aggravate problems.
10. Get help when you need it: Seeking help is a sign of strength — not a weakness. And it is important to remember that treatment is effective. People who get appropriate care can recover from mental illness and addiction and lead full, rewarding lives.

1. The Color Game. “The Color Game” is simple: you write out a list of color names, and change the color of the actual text so that it does not correspond to the color referred to.
2. The Shortest Short Story. Chances are, you’ve written a short story in your life. Regardless of whether you were in college or high school, you’ve probably penned a 300-500 word tale you either read out loud or submitted.
3. Non-dominant Hand Day. If you’re like most people, you rely almost entirely on your dominant hand. This is the hand you use to write, eat, brush your hair, and draw with.
4. Find a Hidden Object. One thing that boosts the performance and output of the brain is visual searching. Games like “Where’s Waldo” and similar “hidden object” challenges are ideal for this.
5. Test Your Memory. For this game, pull up a simple picture of an interior or exterior scene. The scene should have several elements to it. For example, a picture of a pond with a bench, some ducks, a walking path, a jogger, a tree, and a tulip bed.Once you’ve found an ideal image, study it for one minute.
6. Create a Story. Practicing creativity has been linked to better brain health. And what better way to be creative than to tell a group story? Have a few people over and get several sheets of blank paper.
7. Count Backwards. To give your brain a real workout, practice counting backward. Starting at 200, count backward to zero in increments of five. Easy enough?
