1. Cannabis. Well, you weren’t expecting that one, now were you? The truth is, marijuana contains cannabinoids, which, among its many benefits, reduces pressure in the eyes.
2. Eyebright. The name alone tells you a great deal about this herb. It actually gets its name from the flowers that look like eyes. This herb is a powerful medicine when it comes to preserving eyesight.
3. Omega-3s. OK, so technically this is not an herb, but this substance definitely deserves mention here. These essential fatty acids are anti-inflammatory and help to maintain the fluidity of cell membranes, as well as protect the retina from oxidative damage.
4. Gingko Biloba. This herb has been used for centuries for problems with the central nervous system as well as a remedy for eye problems. Ginkgo is a selective vascular dilator that increases circulation and blood flow to the back of the eye.
5. Goldenseal. Most people think of goldenseal as a natural antibiotic. Scientists show us that this ancient herb, used by the Native Americans for hundreds of years, has anti-inflammatory, astringent and antibiotic compounds that can be terrific when it comes to improving eye health.
6. Milk Thistle. This herb has so much to offer besides supporting a healthy liver. However, weak eyesight or blurry vision is sometimes a reflection of our liver health.
7. Grape Seed Extract. Over the last time grape seed extract has been greatly discussed as a super healthy benefit that can help our bodies in numerous ways.
8. Fennel. Fennel has long been said to provide relief from watery or inflamed eyes, as well as strengthen them. Many people use fennel tea as a as an eyewash for more serious conditions, such as glaucoma or cataracts.
9. Turmeric. Turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory and medicinal benefits in many areas, and that includes the eyes. This popular spice encourages eye health by reducing the oxidation of the lens of the eye.
10. Saffron. This herb is similar to fennel in that it has also been linked to improved eyesight and improved results for those with cataracts. Some researchers talk about this herb as being a possible key for the prevention of loss of sight among the elderly.

6 Tips for Eye Health and Maintaining Good Eyesight

1. Eat Well. Good eye health starts with the food on your plate. Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E might help ward off age-related vision problems like macular degeneration and cataracts.
2. Quit Smoking. It makes you more likely to get cataracts, damage to your optic nerve, and macular degeneration, among many other medical problems. If you've tried to kick the habit before only to start again, keep at it.
3. Wear Sunglasses. The right pair of shades will help protect your eyes from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. Too much UV exposure boosts your chances of cataracts and macular degeneration.
4. Use Safety Eyewear. If you use hazardous or airborne materials on the job or at home, wear safety glasses or protective goggles. Sports like ice hockey, racquetball, and lacrosse can also lead to eye injury.
5. Look Away From the Computer Screen. Staring at a computer or phone screen for too long can cause: Eyestrain. Blurry vision. Trouble focusing at a distance. Dry eyes.
6. Visit Your Eye Doctor Regularly. Everyone needs a regular eye exam, even young children. It helps protect your sight and lets you see your best. Eye exams can also find diseases, like glaucoma, that have no symptoms.

9 Effective Tips For Healthy Eyes

Effective Livhealthylife.com Get All

Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins
1. Eat Balanced Diet. Diet plays a quintessential role in maintaining a good vision of the eye. The balanced nutrient-rich diet reduces the risk of certain eye diseases.
2. Get Enough Sleep. Lack of sleep can cause red, dry, lazy eyes, headaches, and visual impairment. It is important to take 7-8 hours of quality sleep regularly for rejuvenation of eyes.
3. Reduce Screen Time. Blue light emission from devices makes eyes dry and irritated. Take a break from the screen whenever possible; maintain a proper distance between eyes and mobile or computer screen; install proper lighting.
4. Eye Exercises. There is little evidence on eye exercises that help to improve eye vision, but it may reduce eye strain. Moving eyes in the shape of figure 8, different eye movements, focus change exercises may prove helpful.
5. Use Protective Eyewear. Sunglasses protect eye damage from UVA and UVB rays from the sun. Wearing eye safety goggle while working on the field or playing certain games like swimming should be considered to protect the eye from dust, toxins, extreme light, etc.
6. Avoid Rubbing Eyes. Rubbing or touching eyes with contaminated fingers makes the eye vulnerable to infections such as conjunctivitis. Continuous rubbing of the eye can result in thinning of the cornea.
7. Avoid Heavy Eye Makeup. Chemicals and preservatives in cosmetics can affect the tear film layer. Therefore, it is imperative to take up cosmetic removal routine and replace them from time to time.
8. Quit Smoking. Smoking is associated with various eye diseases such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal damage leading to vision loss.
9. Schedule Eye Appointment. Many eye diseases can be prevented and corrected at an early stage with regular eye check-ups. People with glasses, chronic diseases like diabetes, older age, at-risk adults, should have an annual eye examination.

1. Carrots. Carrots are rich in beta carotene and vitamin A. While eating carrots won’t help you see any better, there is a lot of truth in the idea that they can help protect vision by reducing the impact of macular degeneration and possibly even cataracts.
2. Bell Peppers. Bell peppers are also an excellent source of vitamins A and C; just 1 cup of the peppers will provide 100 percent of the recommended daily value of these vitamins.
3. Blueberries. Blueberries are packed with antioxidants that are beneficial to not only your eyes, but to your overall health and wellness. Studies have shown that blueberries may help reduce the impacts of glaucoma, early cataracts, heart disease, cancer, and other conditions.
4. Sweet Potatoes. Sweet potatoes are one of the best sources of beta-carotene, which helps promote ocular health and can even aid in maintaining good night vision.
5. Leafy Greens (Kale, Spinach, Collard Greens) Just one cup of these leafy greens is packed with more than 20 milligrams of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin.
6. Eggs. If you are not a fan of leafy greens (like myself), eggs are another excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin. Additionally, eggs also provide healthy fat and protein, and while they have a lower amount of carotenoids than many vegetables, the carotenoids present in eggs are in a highly absorbable form.
7. Legumes. Legumes of all types (black-eyed peas, kidney beans, lima beans, peanuts, lentils, chickpeas, etc) are great sources of bioflavonoids and zinc.
8. Nuts and Seeds. Pistachios, cashews, walnuts; whatever your favorite nuts or seeds may be, are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin E. Just one ounce of sunflower seeds or almonds will provide you with more than a third of the daily recommended value of vitamin E. Vitamin E has been shown to boost eye health by protecting cells in the eyes from free radicals, and may slow the progression of cataracts and macular degeneration.
9. Tomatoes. Tomatoes are full of carotenoids, including lycopene, which helps give tomatoes their red color. Lycopene protects tissues from free radical damage which contributes to several ocular diseases (such as macular degeneration).
10. Fish (Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel) Cold-water fish are rich in essential fatty acids that have been proven to do your whole body good, including your eyes.
