In the face of converging global health crises, the role of the research community in improving people's lives has never been more clear and urgent: the global COVID-19 pandemic, the obesity epidemic, the opioid crisis, and other growing health burdens are loudly telling us that we must think about health in a different way to chart much-needed progress.
