15 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Obama’s

7 hours ago by Mhadegree.org

1. Healthcare Reform May Be Deemed Unconstitutional. The law states that every American citizen must purchase some form of health insurance, or they will be subject to fines in the form of tax penalties on their federal income taxes.
2. Medicare Advantage Will Be Affected. One of the biggest points of contention that opponents have with healthcare reform is that is said to be designed to eliminate Medicare.
3. Abortion Is A Hot Topic. Healthcare reform kicked up the dust of the abortion debates by mandating that health insurance providers will cover the costs of abortions in the case of incest, danger to the mother’s health or rape.
4. Not Everyone Will Have Healthcare. When President Obama was presenting his healthcare reform ideas to the country, he vowed that every American would have health insurance under his plan.
5. The Big Changes Are Yet To Happen. When you open up the newspapers or go to the Internet, you may see a lot of news articles that are already blaming healthcare reforms for problems in the United States.
6. The Effect On Taxes. At this point, it is estimated that the average working American family with health insurance pays an extra $1,100 per year to help cover uninsured people.
7. The Effect On Small Business. Most people do not realize this, but the healthcare reforms mandate that small businesses must provide some kind of healthcare for their employees.
8. Rationed Healthcare. Have you ever heard someone say that they needed a medical procedure but the insurance company would not pay for it? That is an example of the insurance provider rationing healthcare.
9. Socialized Medicine. One of the biggest fears opponents have of healthcare reforms is that they say it puts us on the road to socialized medicine. This is the same kind of system they have in Canada and Great Britain where the government is in complete control of the healthcare system, which includes running hospitals and hiring doctors.
10. The Timing Is Bad. There is a lot of opposition to healthcare reform because many opponents do not see how it can possibly reduce healthcare costs in the long run.

EXCLUSIVE: President Obama Defends Right to Choose Best Care

Just Now by Abcnews.go.com

1. The White House has shown some flexibility about a government-run plan. In a meeting with a bipartisan group of governorstoday, the possibility was raised of states offering public plans of their own instead of just one federally administered plan, according to a source with knowledge of the meeting. And White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told Democratic senators Tuesday night that the president was open to "alternatives" to the public plan. Sawyer asked Ron Williams, the CEO of Aetna Insurance, "Is the president right that you need to be kept honest?" Williams said he disagreed with the notion of a public plan. "It's difficult to compete against a player who's also the person refereeing the game," Williams said. He proposed working to "solve the problem as opposed to introduce a new competitor who has rule-making ability." Gibson pointed out that the president constantly makes the argument that if you like your insurance you won't have to change it. And yet from the audience,...
