1. Grab a few magazines and make a dreamy collage. You can frame the collage and use it as a decorative piece for your room! I made a dream board back in April and still adore it!
2. Take a walk in a botanic garden near you. Do a search on Google and find a botanic garden in town. They scenery is super calming and beautiful. You’ll feel renewed after seeing all the beautiful flowers and plants!
3. Go to the gym. Even a 20 minute workout can help relieve anxiety and stress!
4. Write out your feelings. It’s cathartic to get your feelings down on paper. Consider doing a brain dump or simply write an entry in your journal!
5. Try a new beverage at your local smoothie shop. You can even make a delicious smoothie at home. I love this spiced pear smoothie by Yolanda at Put The Kettle On.
6. Cuddle up with your pet. Because puppies always make everything better. And kitties….and basically any pet, y’all!
7. Make a healthy lunch. Prepare a yummy and healthy lunch, like avocado pesto pasta!
8. Visit a cute beach town. Chill by the boardwalk, check out local shops, and grab an ice cream cone!
9. Get a fancy manicure. I’m talking blush pink nails and sparkle!
10. Have a cup of tea. Open the window, sit in your kitchen, and enjoy a nice cup of tea.

20 Beautiful Ways To Spend A Mental Health Day

1. Massage. Getting a message is one of my favorite ways to spend a mental health day. There are different types of massages you can receive for relaxation.
2. Acupuncture. When I first received acupuncture treatments, it was to help alleviate back pain. However, I eventually learned that acupuncture is used for many different conditions.
3. Painting. Painting is one of the easiest ways to spend a mental health day. My former supervisor would take a week off every year to paint different things, while she was in nature.
4. Epsom Salt Bath. I never knew about Epsom salt baths until a year ago. My massage therapist told me that my back muscles felt particularly tight that session.
5. Nature Walk. Going on a nature walk has a ton of benefits. Nature walks take away a lot of the stressful distractions in everyday life, such as traffic and endless demands.
6. Meditation. Meditation has long been known to help relieve stress. It’s one of my favorite stress management techniques, especially for stay-at-home moms or working moms.
7. Music. Playing or listening to music is a great stress reliever. You can play music on an instrument, listen to music, or go to a concert. I don’t recommend any specific music genre, because it really depends on your individual preference.
8. Read a Book. Sometimes you may just need to immerse yourself in fantasy land and read a good book. Books can be a great way to relax, remove distractions from your life, and relieve stress.
9. Hang Out with a Friend. Spending time with a good friend can be an instant stress reliever. Be sure to choose a friend who can bring out laughter in the conversation or listen to you without judgment.
10. Journal Writing. You might not always have your friends or loved ones ready to hear you vent when you feel stressed or upset. During these times, writing in a journal can be a great way to express your feelings.

9 Smart Tips for Taking a Mental Health Day That Actually

9 hours ago by Self.com

Estimated Reading Time: 8 mins
1. Think of mental health days as a regular tune-up—not damage control. In an ideal world, mental health days would be something you automatically work into your schedule to prevent you from getting to a place where you desperately need a break, David Klow, licensed marriage and family therapist and founder of Chicago’s Skylight Counseling Center, tells SELF.
2. Consider scheduling ahead. Proactively saying, “Okay, next Friday I’m going to take off for a mental health day,” gives you more of an opportunity to plan exactly how to spend it.
3. Actually unplug from work. Way too many people take time off work only to stay engaged with it in little ways anyway, says Lavella. They check their emails, keep their Slack notifications on, or even just…spend too much time ruminating about their jobs.
4. Honor the need to do nothing. With everything I just said in mind, sometimes a mental health day can be nothing more than weathering the storm of your mental health symptoms and practicing self-care in whatever small ways you can manage.
5. Connect with other people. Social connection is a huge pillar of self-care in general, but I often forget it’s an option for mental health days, given that mental health days often feel synonymous with “hiding from the world.”
6. Get into nature. You probably don’t need me to tell you that the healing powers of nature are plentiful, but how often do you actually take advantage of that?
7. Tackle your to-do list. Taking a break from work to do more work might not sound like the best use of a mental health day, but honestly, it might be for you.
8. Do something creative. If you haven’t noticed, the essence of a good mental health day is often connection. We’ve covered connecting with others and with the world, but connecting to yourself and with a sense of inspiration is a worthy option too.
9. Remember mental health days aren’t all-or-nothing. As great as mental health days are, remember that they’re not going to work miracles. “People hope that if they can load up on restoration all at once on a mental health day, they’ll return to work completely reset,” says Klow.

6 Tips for Taking a Mental Health Day (and Why You Should

3 hours ago by Vitacost.com

1. Alert your higher-up and/or clients. If you wake up feeling like you just can’t do it again, resist the urge to blow off the whole world and immediately call, email, or text your boss, colleagues or clients—anyone who may need to know your whereabouts.
2. Resist the urge to watch Netflix in your pajamas all day. It may be tempting to schlep from your bed to your sofa and queue up all those Stranger Things episodes you missed, but a mental health day ought to emphasize health.
3. but do take a nap. If you’re among the many Americans who burn the candles on both ends, it’s likely that your burnout is partly caused by a lack of quality sleep.
4. Sweat it out. One of the most telling symptoms of burnout is an increased tendency towards testiness. If your temper is starting to feel like it’s a less than a centimeter away from sending you flying off the handle, it’s not only time for a mental health day but time to address the aggression that’s been brewing.
5. Eat well. Taking a day off from work shouldn’t translate into drinking massive margaritas and eating thrice-fried, smothered-in-sour-cream chimichangas: Overindulge and you’ll return to work feeling even worse than before.
6. and pamper yourself. Your mental health day is not about blow-drying your hair for an hour in order to impress your colleagues or clients (unless, of course, this gives you pleasure).
